Kix Files March Pre-Orders!

The Kix Files online shop has tons of fresh March releases up for pre-order, including but not limited to...

Nike Air Max 90 Illumination Pack
The offensively ugly Safari Pack II
Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod) II Zest
Some mean looking Court Force Highs
Dinosaur Jr. Dunk SB Highs
...and, clearly, freshest of all...
Air Jordan III Retro Fire Red
[EDIT: Pretty sure these are for children.]

Words.

This Feels Wrong

I know this probably isn't "wrong" from a legal standpoint. In fact I'm almost sure of it; design patents are tenuous things (See: Nike Air Force 1 and A Bathing Ape Bape Sta). Still, the "Twombly" by Vivism leaves me feeling a bit ill. I mean, seriously... Checkerboard print on a slip-on shoe that is not made by Vans? IS NOTHING SACRED?

Diamond Supply Co. X Crooks & Castles: The 4 C's

Not a bad idea! A lot of people probably won't understand this shirt, but that's OK, because those people probably aren't that smart anyway. No word yet on when this Diamond Supply Co. X Crooks & Castles collabo will be dropping.

Air Jordan XX2 Commercial

New commercial for the soon-to-be-released Air Jordan XX2 (or XXII or 22).

This commercial literally gives me chills. Be sure to watch it with the sound turned on and turned up. Go buy a new pair of speakers if need be.

AIR JORDAN XX2 TAKE OVER

Can be accessed in much larger format at Jumpman23.com. You can also download it from the iTunes music store, which is a good idea if you don't have VERY high-speed internet.

UPDATE: By the way... Just in case you were wondering, the music is the Lacrimosa verse of Mozart's Requiem in D Minor.

Kidrobot Clothes are Really Dumb

See if there are any flaws with my logic:
If (1) Overpriced plastic toys are pretty dumb,
and (2) Overpriced all-over print hoodies are pretty dumb,
then (3) Overpriced hoodies with all-over prints of overpriced plastic toys are really dumb.

Ventura Design on Time: So Fresh, So Clean Watches

Ventura, relatively young for a watchmaking company, claims to have "no past but only a future." The above watch, dubbed the SPARC px, makes me think that future is going to be a rather bright one, and the rest of the watches in the collection aren't too bad, either. They're far from cheap (the pictured watch will set you back $2150), but the target demographic is "individualists who expect high standards of quality, reliability, and design."

Neither Sneakers nor Streetwear: Matt Sewell

Well, the title of this post isn't entirely true since he does have a couple t-shirts for sale and has designed a pair of Gravis Comet Mids but it is mostly accurate because, for the most part, Matt Sewell is just an awesome artist.

And, yeah, I know this is supposed to be a blog about sneakers, but I like I said in the post before this one, the sneaker scene has been getting me down lately, so I figure rather than not post at all, I would highlight some cool lesser-known artists. Plus there is a lot of fun to be had by poking around his website. Enjoy.

Vans Syndicate Old Skool "S" Vintage Pack

I haven't written much lately for the simple reason that nothing involving streetwear or sneakers has gotten me very excited lately.

These Vans Syndicate models are looking pretty fresh, though. Set to release soon (Spring 2007), they feature pre-distressed fabrics and a subtle and super-clean checkerboard pattern. If the all-out checkerboard print is just a bit too much for you to rock, these are definitely worth checking out. Words.

"The Jordan XX2 Countdown" on Slam Online

Slam Magazine has a pretty good feature on all the Jordan's across the years... They have been doing a countdown for the past 22 days and finished today with, of course, the Air Jordan XX2, which is slated for release tomorrow: Michael Jordan's birthday and the date of the NBA All-Star game.

The commentary isn't super-insightful, but if you don't know much about the history and design of the Air Jordans over the years, it should be a pretty informative read.

Orange, Yellow, and Red Nike Air Force One

To be honest, I don't think these are all that colorful, especially considering they are part of the Air Force One 25th Anniversary "Colorful Pack." The only part that is very aggressive at all is the super-bright orange midsole. Otherwise... White, red, and yellow? Nothing too crazy, but they look pretty nice.

Floral Nike Court Force Low Women's Samples

Nike Court Force Lo Low Women's WMNS Sample Red Yellow Floral Front Toebox
Nike Court Force Lo Low Women's WMNS Sample Red Yellow Floral Back HeelsSome pretty fresh-looking Court Force Lows, apparently for the females... Looks to feature two tones of red leather, yellow leather, red suede on the swoosh, and a very interesting floral pattern on the tongue and heels. Not too bad... I wouldn't be ashamed to pick these up in a women's size 11.5!

Mita X New Balance 576 Yamato and Amazon

The details on this shoe are gorgeous. Color is used extraordinarily effectively, with only tiny splashes that make a huge impact as a result of their both their rarity and brightness. Take the red behind the "N" for example... Such a small detail, but it really makes the logo pop. The perforations on the toe and side are excellent as well. And, of course, the floral laser etchings on the heel add beauty and elegance to an otherwise athletic shoe. Wow. I want these.
On the other hand, I think these green ones, dubbed "Amazon," are pretty gross. Oh well. Different strokes.Images and info via New Balance Blog.

JB Classics C-Bridge

These were actually released on January 20, but hopefully you and I can still find some in stores because, quite simply, the entire collection is incredible. Look at the 9 designs above and tell me one of them isn't fresh. I dare you. Do it. Seriously.

A Bathing Ape Shark Tee

Good Lord, how offensively retarded of an idea for a shirt is this? Seriously? A zipper graphic? A ZIPPER GRAPHIC? I can barely even grasp the stupidity. It helps to think about how overwhelmingly dumb it would be to have an actual zipper running down the middle of a t-shirt. Then multiply that by several orders of magnitude. You might get a headache while doing this.

Air Jordan Spizike — White, Varsity Red, True Blue

These look, to me, to be the freshest of the Spizikes. They are just perfectly wearable.

The North Face X Supreme Summit Series Jackets

The North Face is teaming up with Supreme to drop a little collaboration action with their Summit Series jackets. Looks like these are designed to match the Supreme Timberlands (which were abominations), but they actually look pretty good.

At first glance, I thought I was partial to the black and red colorway, but now I'm not so sure... The purple and brown has grown on me. And, of course, as it usually is with brands like The North Face and Supreme, it's the details that really take it away: The leopard-print lining is really killing it.
